On September 11th, 2001, at 8:13 AMโ twenty-three years ago to this dayโ the deadliest terrorist attack in the history of the world took place at the World Trade Center in New York City, and the Pentagon, in Washington DC.
Multiple buildings, including the famed north and south twin towers, were destroyed. Many more were damaged.
2,977 victims lost their lives that day, who were from over 80 countries across the world. Upwards of 20,000 more were injured or declared missing. Included in the casualties were over four hundred first responders from the FDNY, NYPD, PAPD, and other agencies.
As we remember the lives lost, the families destroyed, and the heartbreak the world experienced that day, we should all take a few moments to reflect on ourselves. We are in uncertain and troubling times, and there will be more to follow, as history is our greatest teacherโ but humanity can and will continue to show its resolve as it did that day.
